Meet the Team
Head TrainerFounder of My Fitness and passionate about sports and fitness from an early age, Ian has represented Guernsey in many sports and most notably football. Having decided to pursue a career in health and fitness in his early 20’s Ian has spent the last 15 years developing a highly successful career and reputation and is well regarded within the industry.
Ian has helped people from all walks of life improve their health and fitness and has also received international recognition for his work with professional sports people, including Andy Priaulx and Jenson Button. Ian is currently training Guernsey’s professional boxer, Bradley Watson, who aims to become a British and World Champion within the next 2-3 years.
Senior TrainerAli is a married mum of two young kids with a lifelong interest in sports (tennis and karate mainly) and exercise which resulted in her wanting to pursue a career in the health and leisure industry.
Studying at Brunel University she obtained an honours degree in Sports Science and Leisure Management and then a post graduate fitness qualification from the American College of Sports Medicine in fitness instruction and personal training. Before moving to Guernsey, she worked in London for four years as a fitness instructor and personal trainer.
Ali started working for My Fitness in February 2015 and she particularly enjoys taking group exercise classes as well as helping mums like her manage the difficult task of juggling family life with maintaining their own health and fitness. As a sufferer of Multiple Sclerosis, she is also interested in working with people who have chronic illness or who just need that little bit extra help.
Senior TrainerTim comes from a sporting background, having represented the island in several sports growing up and continuing to play for the senior sides in both cricket and hockey. Tim also has experience playing at the professional level being part of the Hampshire CCC squad during the 2010/2011 season before moving on to a different career path.
Although Tim is a fully qualified level 3 personal trainer and specialises in fat loss, strength training and sports conditioning.
TrainerClare was the first channel islander to be selected for a national sailing squad, English girls youth national champion, 5th girl (a British best) at a youth world championships and is now a level 3 sailing coach. In 2004 Clare was awarded the Brewery Salver for the best individual sporting achievement by a Guernsey woman. She has coached British Teams internationally, top sailors in other nations and the Island Games 2015 sailing and windsurfing teams.
Clare has a wealth of experience working with and teaching children and is passionate about helping youngsters enjoy fitness and exercise. Six months ago she took on a new challenge and decided to explore the world of combat sports, working hard to improve her boxing, kick boxing and Muay Thai techniques. Claire has a Bsc Hons degree in sports science, gym instructor level 2 and is currently working towards her level 3 personal trainer qualification.
Senior TrainerKalvis is not just a great trainer but a really nice guy. He is calm and friendly and yet knows exactly how to push you to your limits. A great all round trainer and often seen delivering group classes too. No matter what your primary goal is you can rest assured that Kalvis will take that into account and ensure your sessions are well thought out and relevant for what you need.
Senior Trainer‘Big’ Rik is huge character and extremely knowledgable trainer. Years of experience within the industry has led him to truly understand what a client needs. Like Ian, he has worked in the industry for a long time and seen many ‘fads’ along the way which results in continual learning and development to make sure clients get the very best advice and training. A regular on the gym floor he is always happy to talk to members and offer guidance and tips and for those of you that really want to get extra help and knowledge his PT packages will not fail to help.
